Sheridan First Christian Church is God-centered and inclusive, committed to service and celebration with both fellow congregants and our community.

GOD-CENTERED

God is the source of our being from whom we find the light and love that reflects on the world around us.

God’s love is found in our life’s journey, growing, and expanding in depth and scope. A God-centered person does not worship out of fear or guilt, but out of a genuine desire to experience God’s free gift of grace and share the outpouring of God’s love to those around them.

Baptism

Although immersionists, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Sheridan First Christian Church honor prior forms of baptism whether done as an infant or in another faith tradition and does not require “rebaptism.”

Open Table

Communion, given through the breaking of the bread and the sharing of the cup, is part of each time we gather in worship and is considered the high point of our worship services. As Disciples, we believe it is not our role to stand in the way of someone who desires to receive communion and only God is the one who can truly know what is in a person’s heart.

God’s table is a place for ALL!

INCLUSIVE

Sheridan First Christian Church is inclusive of all, embracing in ever-widening circles that begin with God. We welcome and extend our love to all races, genders, and abilities. We believe that there are a variety of gifts from the Holy Spirit that come together in the weaving of the tapestry that forms the congregation and the church.

Our worship service is casual and friendly, warm and inviting.

SERVICE

Sheridan First Christian Church is deeply committed to serve others, casting a wide net of people, places, and things to serve the community and the world. Ministries come in many forms:

Ongoing collections of shoes, glasses, cell phones and bras

Partners in service are always welcome!

CELEBRATION

Unity and inclusion are reflected in the celebrations of our congregation and our community, from breaking bread together at pitch-ins and potlucks to celebrating communion together every Sunday. All are welcome to the Lord’s Table for the sake of mission and for the sake of the world as the one family of God.

People, places, and events in the life of the congregation are recognized as part of the sharing of God’s Good News.

Potlucks, baby showers and receptions also are part of the celebration of the life of Sheridan FCC … COME JOIN US!

ABOUT US COMMUNITY RESOURCES

GOD:

We believe in the Trinity- the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. There is only one God who created all things visible and invisible and who loves us all.

JESUS:

We believe that Jesus, who died for our sins, is the resurrected Christ, the Son of the living God, and we accept him as our Lord and Savior.

HOLY SPIRIT:

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the source of power, guidance and inspiration pouring into the life of a follower of Christ.

BIBLE:

We believe the Bible was written under the inspiration of God and is an authority for all matters of faith and practice. BIBLE means “Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth.”

BAPTISM:

We believe that those who accept Jesus as Savior should be baptized as the outward sign of an inward change. If you have been baptized, you do not need to be baptized again to join our church.
